“Kitty City” welcomes unwanted cats

(KFYR) North Dakota’s Triple H Miniature Horse Rescue helps out all kinds of animals, but up until this summer, it had mainly focused on farmyard animals. Now, its founder is welcoming some new furry additions to their Mandan rescue farm: cats.

Alison Smith, the founder of Triple H, says caring for animals is just something she feels she has to do. When she heard other rescues and pounds were filling up, she knew she had to act.

“Well first it’s hearbreaking, especially if they come in and they have issues. But I’m telling you, it doesn’t take very long and what’s really wonderful is watching them all get along. I mean, they are all living here as a community,” Smith says.

The cats in Kitty City live in kitty condos. There are 13 cats in the city right now, but Triple H hopes they can house as many as 40, if not more, by next year.
