Gates is accused of breaking into a home with a gun in the area of Endover Road and Lanbury Drive and assaulting a woman inside the home. Kettering Police previously told 2 NEWS that another woman in the house at the time grabbed what police believe was a baseball bat and hit Gates, causing Gates to run from the home.

He was found a block away hiding in some bushes. Gates was arrested and taken to the hospital. Police say they found the weapon Gates had with him Wednesday afternoon.

While police searched for Gates, a Code Red alert was sent to residents and schools in the area. The schools were placed on lockdown and residents were warned to stay inside and keep their eyes open for the suspect.

The victim in the assault was released from the hospital last week and is expected to recover. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
