UNION TWP., Ohio (WDTN) – A Union Township homeowner shot and wounded a suspect during an attempted home invasion Thursday night.
Miami County Sheriff’s deputies responded at just after 11 p.m. at North Montgomery County Line Road, near Haber Road, according to our partners at the Troy Daily News.
The homeowner called 911 and said a group of men kicked in the door of his house and shot at him.
The man told deputies he got his own gun and fired back, hitting one of the men in the leg.
“Based on evidence recovered we do believe this residence was targeted and it was a narcotics-related home invasion,” Chief Deputy Dave Duchak told the Troy Daily News.
The group of men fled, and he found the shooting victim in a ditch outside his house a few minutes later. The injured suspect, whose last known address was in Dayton, underwent surgery and is expected to survive. He was transported to the hospital via CareFlight, according to the Troy Daily News.
The Miami County Sheriff is investigating the incident and seeks the public’s assistance in identifying three other suspects. The suspects should all be considered armed and dangerous.
