VANDALIA, Ohio (WDTN) — A Vandalia-Butler High School senior died in a car accident on Monday.

The Vandalia Drummer reports 17-year-old Alexandria Fowler was killed in a single-car crash on State Route 4 near Stanley Avenue around 3 p.m. on Monday.

Fowler was trapped after her car hit a guardrail.

She was taken to Miami Valley Hospital where she later died.

According to Superintendent Brad Neavin, Fowler left school on Monday to attend classes at Wright State.

The school held class meetings in the performing arts theater with each class at the beginning of the day. Crisis counselors and area clergy were at the school on Tuesday, available to students and staff.

“The Vandalia-Butler community will be impacted greatly by this loss,” Neavin said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to Allie’s family and friends at this very difficult time.”

“Our school community is a tight-knit one and will experience this loss as any family would.”

School officials say all scheduled events will continue as planned for the week. No memorial arrangements have been announced.
