Social media post about First Lady gets educator fired


FORSYTH COUNTY, GA (WCMH) — A Georgia elementary school educator is out of a job after comparing First Lady Michelle Obama to a gorilla on a social media post.

Parents told WSB-TV, they were disappointed to hear about the post on the personal Facebook page of paraprofessional Jane Wood Allen.

The post, a pictures of the First Lady, along with the caption that read, “This poor gorilla. How is she going to function in the real world, by not having all of her luxurious vacations paid for anymore?”

“It’s absolutely racist. She’s an African-American, you’re comparing her to a gorilla, two and two, there you go,” said parent Kassie Silver.

The Forsyth County School District wouldn’t talk about the incident but did release a statement saying Allen had been relieved of her duty with the school and, “Racism and discrimination are not tolerated in our school district.”

Allen was unable to be reached by WSB-TV for a comment and the post has since been deleted. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
