COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A Delaware County Sheriff’s deputy is charged with forging the checks of two area businesses.
James F. Cuccarese II, 45, was indicted on two counts of forgery and one count of theft.
According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O’Brien, Cuccarese altered a check payable to him from The Bainbridge Farm LLC and tried to deposit that check in November of 2015. A stop payment was put on that check in Decemberm and more than $11,000 was removed from Cuccarese’s account.
In December, O’Brien said Cuccarese tried to cash a check for $12,000 with a forged signature of the owner of Worthington Wellness Center.
Cuccarese was a part-time employee at Worthington Wellness Center for several years.
In that case, the bank contacted the business before the check was cashed.
“If convicted of these charges, Cuccarese would be required to forfeit his Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy certificate,” O’Brien stated.
