DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – If you have an old refrigerator or freezer you need to get rid of Dayton Power and Light is making it easier for you this weekend.
DP&L said Wednesday they will offer $50 rebates for each working refrigerator or freezer dropped off during this week’s Appliance Amnesty Weekend at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility.
From October 6 through October 8, Montgomery County is waiving its normal appliance drop-off charge at the facility as part of the event. DP&L will also pay $50 for each old working refrigerator or freezer dropped off and $20 for each working room air conditioner or dehumidifier.
DP&L points out by removing old appliances you can save up to $150 in energy costs each year. Additionally, you will be helping the environment; almost 100 percent of the materials in the appliances will be recycled.
Appliances can be dropped off at the Montgomery County Solid Waste District Transfer and Recycling Facility at 1001 Encrete Lane in Moraine Friday and Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.

DP&L says they will also pick up appliances if you can’t make it to Appliance Amnesty Weekend. Visit DP&L’s website for more information about the Appliance Recycling Program. DP&L will pick up your appliance for free and pay you a $50 rebate.
