SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) — Two boys have been arrested for setting a fire and causing other damage to a Springfield church.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 7 p.m. on Wednesday about two men breaking into the Beacon Street Church of Christ.

When deputies arrived on the scene, Springfield Police had already detained one suspect.

A further investigation showed the suspects had started a fire inside a box inside one of the church buildings. The suspects had also sprayed a fire extinguisher throughout the building.

More damage was done to both buildings on the property.

Two boys were arrested on multiple charges, including two counts each of breaking and entering, one count each of arson, one count each of criminal damaging and one count each of desecration.

Both boys were taken to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
