DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –  Dayton Power and Light is sending crews south to help with restoration efforts in the wake of Hurricane Matthew.

DP&L sent 20 crews members to Florida Thursday morning.

The crews will assist with power restoration and will be dispatched according to damage and local needs.

It is anticipated that high winds will take down power lines and leave many in the dark.

Hurricane Mathew is heading for the Florida coast Thursday and is gaining strength.
