California Good Samaritan faces backlash after helping cop

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) A Good Samaritan who was out walking his dog helped a Sacramento police officer arrest a suspect Wednesday evening.

“That police guy is here to protect me, I’m going to be there to help out and make sure he’s not injured,” Sergio De La Cruz said. “A lot of people were upset I helped him, but my thing was protect him — protect the person.”

“The suspect actually grabbed and took off the end of the Taser and disarmed the officer of his Taser,” Sacramento police spokesperson Traci Trapani said.
