Parents of baby found dead in Springfield hotel appear in court

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The couple arrested Thursday after a baby was found dead in a Springfield hotel appeared in court Friday.

The father, Brian Spencer, Jr, 20, pleaded not guilty to child endangering and received a bond of $55,000.

Shania Delawder also pleaded not guilty to child endangering and she received a $50,000 bond.

Investigators say Clark County Deputies were called to the Drake Motel in Springfield before 8:00 Thursday morning. When they arrived they found a 6-week-old baby badly bruised. The child was taken to Springfield Medical Center where the infant was pronounced dead.

The couple is still in the Clark County Jail.
