ORLANDO, Fla. (WDTN) – A Dayton native took time to help those who are in town helping her.

Rene Bray lives in Orlando but is from Dayton. Bray wrote us Tuesday saying she saw our story on about Dayton Power and Light sending crews to help restore power to the storm-stricken residents of Florida.

Bray explains that she was sitting through the storm on October 9 worrying about what might happen when she found our story. She told 2 NEWS in an email that one of the 20 workers sent to help get the lights back on is married to a friend of hers. Bray was able to connect with her friend’s husband and she and her son met the DP&L worked with some snacks and a heartfelt thank you.

Bray said she was lucky because Hurricane Matthew only left her with a little wind damage and a lot of rain, and an opportunity to thank those who were in town helping people. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
