Vacant Dayton house fire considered suspicious

Firefighters battle fire at vacant home on Milburn Avenue in Dayton

DAYTON (WDTN) — Dayton firefighters say a fire at a vacant house on Milburn Avenue is suspicious.

Firefighters responded to a call just after 5 a.m. on Wednesday of a structure fire in the 800 block of Milburn.

When crews arrived, they found a two-story home on fire. Neighbors say that home is vacant.

No one was injured in the fire. The majority of damage from the fire came to the back and side of the home.

A neighboring home suffered heat damage to its vinyl siding.

This is the second vacant home to burn on Milburn Avenue in the past week. Investigators will look to see if the two fires are connected.

“Certainly, they’re on the same street in the vicinity of one another,” Dayton Fire Department District Chief Barry Baldwin said. “The investigator that’s working this fire here also had that fire, so she’ll try to determine if there’s any connection between the two.”

“Once you get a cause, maybe they’re related,” Baldwin said. “it’s certainly a possibility.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
