DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Along with cold temperatures, you could wake up to some frost in parts of the Miami Valley Friday morning. That means for kids catching the bus Friday morning, it may be time to dust off the winter coats and bundle up.
If you have kids heading to the bus stop Friday morning, make sure they have an extra layer on over their clothes–whether that’s a light jacket or hat. Also have gloves and mittens just in case.
The chance for frost could mean it could slippery on the sidewalk. Or in parts where standing water or puddles have frozen over.
Jessica Saunders with Dayton Children’s says make sure kids know what to expect.
“You want to make sure if kids are walking down your driveway,” Saunders said. “Or if they’re going to the bus stop that you remind them to keep an eye out for frost and keep an eye out yourself. And also look at the shoes your child is wearing.”
Saunders says for the shoes, make sure they’re warm and have enough traction on the bottom to stop any skids.
