TROY, Ohio (WDTN) – The Miami County Sheriff’s Office is holding a drop-off event for unwanted medications Saturday.
The Sheriff’s Office and the Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office are hosting the event. Residents can bring unwanted pill medications for disposal to the Miami County Sanitary Engineer’s Office at 2200 North County Road in Troy.
The collection of the medication will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
The Sheriff’s Office says the curbside drop off gives the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous, expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.
The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.
The Sheriff’s Office says the majority of abused prescriptions come from family and friends and this effort is one way to address a vital public safety and health issue.
If you are unable to make it to the curbside drop off, the Miami County Sheriff’s Office says they have drop boxes at the Miami County Incarceration Facility at 20142 N. County Road 25A, and in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Office in the Safety Building at 201 W. Main St. in Troy.
