Vigil for girl hit by car to be held Friday

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –  A vigil will be held Friday night for the young girl that was hit and dragged by a car Wednesday.

The vigil will be held where the accident happened, at the intersection of North Main Street and Marathon Drive.

2 NEWS learned Friday the girl is still in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital.

Friday morning members of the community gathered to put up a memorial and prayed for the 11-year-old.  Teddy bears, flowers and some of her favorite things were placed at the scene of the accident by family and friends this morning.

The accident happened shortly after 6 PM Wednesday night in the 2000 block of north Main Street, near Marathon Avenue in Dayton.  Police say the girl was on her way to a neighborhood store when she was hit by a car and dragged about 100 feet. The driver of the car stopped and is cooperating with the investigation.  This accident is still under investigation.
