WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A church congregation is finding strength in each other after one of their own was killed in a tragic accident.
51-year-old Donna Skinner died Saturday after being crushed by a tractor at First Baptist Church. Skinner was a mother and grandmother from New Lebanon.
Friends and church members are honoring the life of Skinner by creating a memorial of things she loved.
“She really loved helping people. She was very outgoing,” said Tammy Gau, who has known Skinner for 13 years.
Gau says Skinner loves the Pittsburgh Steelers and that’s why she wore a jersey to pay her respects, placing flowers close to where Skinner was killed. Some people are placing owls near the church, Gau says it’s significant in describing the type of person Skinner was.
“Everybody always called her a hoot. So that’s where the owls come from. She was big hoot always joking. She loved her grand-kids,” she said.
Skinner was an avid volunteer and active member of the church. At the time of the accident, she was doing something she loved, mulching the yard for her church.
“She was just a very good family friend. She was loved by all of us and left behind a lot of people that truly loved and cared for her,” said Gau.
Police are investigating what caused the crash.
