LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — A 68-year-old man arrested in Arizona last year in a 1992 Ohio slaying is due in court for a pretrial hearing.
The Warren County prosecutor plans a press conference after Tuesday’s hearing, indicating there could be a resolution of the case in the works ahead of the scheduled Oct. 31 trial.
Sam Perone has pleaded not guilty to murder and denied involvement in the death of Richard Woods, a rival furniture salesman. The body of the 41-year-old Dublin, Ohio, man was found with gunshot wounds to the head in a ravine near Perone’s Lebanon (LEB’-uh-nun) store. Blood was found on a square of carpet in the store.
Perone was arrested last year in Phoenix. He has been jailed in Ohio on $750,000 bond.
