Chemical spill reported in West Chester; FD urges residents to stay indoors

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WLWT)— The West Chester Fire Department is urging some residents to stay indoors in wake of a chemical spill in the area.

The chemical lime spill has created a dust cloud in the area, officials said.

The incident happened on Joseph James Drive, off Duff Drive.

Lime can cause skin and eye irritation, and can cause respiratory issues, officials said.

“The fire department encourages those in the area to remain indoors with windows and doors closed and HVAC systems off and await further direction,” officials said.

The warning affects properties in the area of south of Muhlhauser to Crescentville, between State Route 747 and International.

Anyone in that vicinity should use caution, officials said. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
