COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Stu Tudor, a Columbus fire fighter who was struck by lightning at a Columbus Crew game in 2014, has died.
According to the Columbus Division of Fire, Tudor died early this morning.
The lightning strike left him paralyzed and unable to talk. He was in a coma for weeks.
In June of 2015, Tudor was interviewed by NBC4 about his recovery.
“I feel fine, but I just want to walk,” said Tudor in 2015, sitting in a wheelchair outside the Hilliard nursing home where he lived after the lightning strike. “I want to move, I want to get up and move … I can’t move.”
He was at a Columbus Crew game on June 28 in 2014 when a storm rolled in. While he crossed the parking lot, he was hit by the bolt from the black, stormy sky.
“Life has not been the same, we forget what life used to be sometimes…before this happened,” she said. “It was bad, it was the hardest year of our life.”
There is no word on the cause of Tudor’s death.
