Model-T among contents destroyed in Bethel Twp. fire

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) – Guns, a Model-T car, tools, equipment and other items are completely destroyed following a fire Friday.

It happened in the 7700 block of Agenbroad in Bethel Township.

The owner’s son tells 2 NEWS that the building was a workshop that belonged to the owner, who is a 91-year-old man.

Inside the workshop was a Model-T car that the son was in the process of restoring, he tells 2 NEWS. The car, along with the structure and everything inside is considered a total loss, the son said.

The man started a fire inside of a wood-burning stove inside the workshop earlier Friday. The homeowner then went back inside his residence. When he returned to the workshop, he saw that the fire had grown and spread. The son believes his father may have forgotten to clean out the stove’s flue.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation. The loss is estimated to be around $500,000, and none of the contents were insured, the son said.

There were no reported injuries.
