CLAY TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WDTN) — One person is dead after a single-vehicle crash on I-70 westbound in Clay Township.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 3:10 a.m. on Friday near the Hoke Road exit.

OSP says two people were in a Chevy Blazer when it ran off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over.

One person in the Blazer was ejected from the vehicle. Paul T Highfill Jr., 37, of Blacklick in Franklin County was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other person in the vehicle was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

OSP says the two people were believed to be from Columbus. Investigators believe the driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.

OSP doesn’t believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.

One lane of I-70 westbound was closed while crews cleaned up the scene. All lanes have since reopened.
