EATON, Ohio (WDTN) – The woman accused in her son’s death pleaded guilty on Monday to the charges she faced.
Christy Warwick, 37, of West Alexandria pleaded guilty to one count of endangering children, a third-degree felony and involuntary manslaughter, a felony of the first degree.
The maximum penalty for endangering children is 36 months, and the maximum for involuntary manslaughter is 11 years.
Twenty-one-month-old Sylas Warwick was found unresponsive in Dec. 2015 in the 5200 block of Lexington Road.
The boy was transported to the Preble County ER facility in Eaton, and later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Dayton, according to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson.
The plea is considered a “last minute deal,” according to Preble County Prosecuting Attorney Martin Votel. He said there had never been plea discussion before Monday’s plea, something Votel deemed a “surprise.” November 29th at 1 p.m. (tentatively)
Warwick is scheduled for sentencing at 1 p.m. on Nov. 29.
