CELINA, Ohio (WDTN) – The man accused of killing a 4-year-old boy is indicted on charges related to the incident Tuesday.

Cory W. Eischen, faces charges of murder, aggravated murder, manslaughter, endangering children and others.

The incident happened Sept. 25 in the 5000 block of Raugh Road.

The boy, identified as Jaxxen Baker, was unresponsive at the home and later pronounced dead at Mercer Health.

Deputies believe the boy was found dead “some time” before he was taken to the hospital. They say the child had “obvious extensive injuries,” according to Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey.

Cory W. Eischen, who was babysitting the boy, told deputies that the boy had fallen off his bike and slipped in the shower. Deputies believed the boy’s injuries were not consistent with his statement.

Grey said Eischen was watching the boy while his mother, Cassidy Spitzer, worked Sunday night.

When deputies attempted to apprehend Eischen, he threatened suicide by holding a knife to his throat at the scene but was subsequently Tased, according to Sheriff Grey. He was transported to Mercer Health by Coldwater Squad.

Eischen was then taken into custody at the hospital and taken to jail. He is currently being held on a $500,000 bond, subject to 10%. He is currently being held on a probation violation holder from a 2014 felony domestic violence case. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
