Man sentenced to serve 15 years, pay $20K for cellphone store robberies

LEBANON, Ohio (WLWT) — A Germantown man has been sentenced to serve 15 years in prison for two Verizon store robberies.

James Shell, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery and two counts of kidnapping in connection with robberies in Germantown on June 24 and in Deerfield Township on July 3.

Prosecutors said that, in each robbery, he and another person entered the store and brandished a toy gun, assaulted the clerk, tied them up in a bathroom and stole cellphones, iPads and cash.

Shell was ordered to pay more than $20,000 in restitution to the stores.
