Local church helps clean up community

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A local church is working to clean up the community.

Apex community church hosted a “Trash Bash” clean up Saturday.

They partnered with the City of Dayton’s waste collection and picked up garbage in West Dayton.

One church member says it’s their way of showing they haven’t given up on the neighborhood.

“We’re not going to roll over and just allow people to continue to do this. Even if it’s one person that thinks twice next time, then we’ve don our job.  We are committed to the community and will come out as many times as it takes. It’s just cool to see people get involved,” says Apex Community Church Member Conor Tait.

Some strange items were collected, including TV’s, mattresses, and even a revolver, which was handed over to the police department.
