Boy killed after being hit by car while chasing his dog

DETROIT, MI (WDTN) — A boy and his dog were both killed after being struck by a vehicle.

“We know it was an accident.  We forgive her.  It was his time.  Unfortunately, she was kind of a victim to it to herself,” members of Gage’s family told WXYZ.

Gage Carter, 10, was trying to catch his dog when they were both struck by a car.

The driver, a 69-year-old woman, did stop at the scene after the crash. Police say drugs and alcohol are not considered factors.

Gage and his dog were both killed and now his family is trying to find a way to pay for funeral costs.

“Obviously, he was 10-years-old.  No one plans on burying their 10-year-old son.  We could use the help.  It would be appreciated.”
