TROY, Ohio (WDTN) — A long-abandoned house caught fire early on Monday morning.
The Miami County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy responded to a call of a light on at the vacant home just after midnight on Monday.
When the deputy arrived on the scene in the 2000 block of Piqua-Troy Road, they found the house fully engulfed in flames.
Fire crews from Troy, Casstown and Fletcher responded to put out the fire.
Firefighters are still working to put out hot spots, so it will be some time before investigators can get inside the house to identify a cause and assess the damage.
The house was vacant, and there were no initial reports of injuries.
Authorities on the scene say a housing development is slated to be built on the land on and around the house in the near future.
