Former Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper accused of rape

LUCAS COUNTY, OH (WCMH) — Police say the former trooper and academy teacher for the Ohio State Highway Patrol was charged with rape in a 2015 incident, after conducting an investigation into separate accusations this year involving a female recruit.

Former trooper Adam Foster was indicted, Friday, on two counts of rape in Lucas County.

According to WTOL, the alleged rape happened in April of 2015 while Foster was a trooper at the Swanton Post, near Springfield Township.

Detectives say they learned about the 2015 incident after Foster was fired for allegedly restraining and making unwanted physical advances towards a female recruit in April of 2016 at the OSHP Academy in Columbus, where Foster had transferred, in the summer of 2015, to be a teacher.

Foster also faces charges in Columbus for unlawful restraint.

His attorney told WTOL that Foster will turn himself into authorities on Monday. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
