INDIANAPOLIS (WTHR) – Was it a tragic death or a bizarre disappearing act? That’s the question after an Indianapolis home burned to the ground, leaving the home’s occupants missing.
Witnesses say they heard screams from people trapped inside after the fire started.
When firefighters arrived around 7:30 a.m. Sunday they found the two-story house consumed by flames.
More troubling than the fire are the claims that as many as six people staying in the house may have been trapped inside.
“Neighbors are reporting they heard people inside the structure unable to get out,” said Rita Reith with the Indianapolis Fire Department.
Once firefighters put out the fire, it was afe to start the search. As many as 20 firefighters were involved at a time, with chainsaws, hand tools and some just on their knees digging for victims. So far nothing has been found.
