SPRINGFIELD, Ohio (WDTN) – The Springfield teen charged with murdering his 14-year-old brother will appear in court Tuesday for a pre-trial hearing.

The 16-year-old is charged with delinquency counts of murder and tampering with evidence for the beating and stabbing death of his younger brother Harley Starling.

Starling was found dead inside a bedroom of his grandmother’s house – in the 2200 block of Superior Avenue in Springfield.

The grandmother told police she went downstairs around 5:30AM Monday to get Harley ready for school when she found him dead.

Police records revealed the Springfield High School freshman was “cold to the touch” and “was clearly dead and had been for several hours” prior to their arrival.

The grandmother said the night before, the teen was playing with his Halloween costume and fake blood and watching a movie with his 16-year-old brother.  She also told police she didn’t hear anything suspicious.

The 16-year-old is currently being held at the Clark County Juvenile Center.
