Man found guilty of rape, kidnapping on bike path

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Jean Paul Mpanurwa has been found guilty of kidnapping and raping a then-90-year-old woman in Dayton.

It happened in July 2013 when Mpanurwa, who is from the Congo, kidnapped the victim off of Radio Road, drug her into the woods and raped her. During the altercation, she suffered a broken arm.

The victim is now 94-years-old. Mpanurwa was linked to the crime through DNA collected off the victim.

Mpanurwa has been convicted of sexual battery in the past, and immigration officials will get involved in the coming days.

Mpanurwa remains in custody and will be sentenced at a later date.
