DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Events throughout the Miami Valley are scheduled for Friday, Nov 11 — Veterans Day.

  • North Dayton School of Discovery Honors Veterans, Including Their Own Principal- North Dayton School of Discovery will celebrate, honor, and thank local veterans at the school’s annual Veteran’s Day assembly on Friday, Nov. 11. Students will have the chance to meet and speak with local veterans about their service.

  • University of Dayton Campus Ministry to Highlight Diversity, Veterans- University of Dayton Campus Ministry activities in November will recognize Hispanic and Black Catholics and veterans. Events are open to the public.

    • WHAT: Mass will honor veterans with a special blessing and remembrance of University of Dayton alumni who died in active service.

  • Mike’s Carwash gives free carwashes to Veterans – Mike’s Carwash will be giving free Basic Washes to veterans and active military personnel at all 17 of their locations on Friday, November 11.

  • Kettering Veterans Memorial and Charles F. Kettering History Walk – On Veterans’ Day, the dedication for the Kettering Veterans Memorial and Charles F. Kettering History Walk
    • WHAT: Kettering Veterans Memorial and Charles F. Kettering History Walk
    • WHEN: 11 a.m. – Noon Friday, November 11, 2016
    • WHERE: Delco Park, 1700 Delco Park Drive
  • Beavercreek Veterans Day Ceremony – The City of Beavercreek Veterans Day Ceremony will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park, 1911 N. Fairfield Road. The ceremony will honor and say thank you to all those many Americans who have served in the armed forces and those men and women currently defending our freedoms and the ideals of our country.

Parking is available on Fairwood Drive and at the Church of the Nazarene. Limited bleacher seating is available; lawn chairs are welcome. Colonel Matthew T. Muha will be the guest speaker. Colonel Muha is the Military Deputy Director of the Tanker Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

  • Sycamore Glen Retirement Community Breakfast residents celebrate Veterans Day with a breakfast on Friday, November 11 at 9:00 a.m. Sycamore Glen is located at 317 Sycamore Glen Drive in Miamisburg near Sycamore Medical Center.

The community will honor more than 20 residents who are residents who are World War II veterans.

The guest speakers at this year’s breakfast are Jarrod McNaughton, president of Kettering Medical Center, and Miamisburg Mayor Dick Church.

  • Centerville to honor Veterans –  In commemoration of Veterans Day, the City of Centerville and Centerville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9550 are saluting the men and women who have helped protect, preserve and maintain our country’s freedoms. A ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, at the Veterans Memorial at Stubbs Park, 255 West Spring Valley Road.
    • WHO: City of Centerville and Centerville Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9550
    • WHAT: A salute to the men and women who have helped protect, preserve and maintain our country’s freedoms
    • WHEN: 11 a.m. Friday, November 11
    • WHERE: Veterans Memorial at Stubbs Park, 255 West Spring Valley Road
  • Tipp City Intermediate School Veterans Day Luncheon – The intermediate school is hosting its annual Veterans Day Luncheon and expecting approximately 175 guests on Friday, November 11th. The event actually begins at 10:00 at Tipp City’s Veterans Memorial located at the corner of Main and Hyatt Streets. In years passed the ceremony has been very moving for veterans, students, and community members in attendance.
