Gearing up for holiday travel

(NBC News) Millions of Americans will be traveling at some point between Thanksgiving and the New Year, and long road trips, screaming kids and navigating the airport can be a hassle.

Thankfully, there are ways to make it better.

Many of us rely on mobile entertainment to get through a long trip, often using headphones to drown out the noisy environment.

Noise-cancelling headphones can block out the ambient sound for adults, and cap ear-damaging levels for kids.

You can keep your entertainment device from dying with a portable battery pack.

In-flight WiFi can keep you connected, but it is limited.

“It’s fine for things like checking facebook or sending some emails, but you’re not going to be able to download big pictures, or stream, for sure, videos,” explains Suzanne Kantra of

Buying WiFi access before you board can save you money, and remember to download content like shows or movies to your device before leaving home.
