ERWIN, N.C. (WNCN) – Harnett County Schools officials are investigating a tweet from a student group account using the hashtag “#WhiteSupremacy.”

The tweet from the “Triton Blue Crew” was published around 1 a.m. Wednesday and read:

“Don’t forget to wear white tomorrow to show your support for #WhiteSupremacy #Trump2016”

That tweet was later deleted.

School district officials are investigating the tweet and looking into who published it.

“The twitter account is student-run so they believe it was one of the students who has access to the account,” said Patricia Harmon-Lewis, director of Public Relations with the Harnett County School District.

Harmon-Lewis said Triton High School is going through its “Championship Week” where students wear a different color each day to support the school.
