DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – The Cincinnati Reds have lined up a “Futures Game” in Dayton to play members from its minor league teams.

Players from teams such as the Louisville Bats, Billings Mustangs and Pensacola Wahoos (and of course, our Dayton Dragons) will come to the Gem City to play against the MLB Cincinnati Reds.

futures_game_web_b7m4fgafThe game will be held at 1:35 p.m. Saturday, April 1 at 220 N. Patterson Blvd., the Dayton Dragons’ Fifth Third Field.

The irony of the setting? Many of the players on the current roster of the Cincinnati Reds were once Dayton Dragons stars: Joey Votto, Billy Hamilton, Homer Bailey, Tucker Barnhart, Michael Lorenzen, Robert Stephenson, Steve Selsky and Wandy Peralta.

This isn’t the first time the Futures Game has been held in Dayton, however. The kickoff game to the series was held right here in Dayton in April 2009. On the Dragons team then? Zack Cozart and Devin Mesoraco — who went on to play for the Redlegs.

Now, how to get in: Dragons season ticket holders, corporate partners and suite holders are being given the first opportunity to snag some tickets first. However, ticket packages are currently on sale for the 2017 season, which includes tickets to the Futures Game. To get in on that, call 937-228-2287.
