(WGAL/NBC News) A burial more than a century in the making took place Wednesday.
The remains of three African-American Civil War soldiers were previously buried in the backyard of Pennsylvania home have been given a proper burial at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
The soldiers, William Anderson, Greenbury Stanton, and John Nelson, were buried will full military honors.
Stanton’s great-great-great-great granddaughter, Dr. Beverly Stanton, spoke at the ceremony, saying the day was “emotional”.
