An information memo from Dayton Police Department says Huber Heights Police were chasing Thomas Palte, 29 when he crashed his car in the median near U.S. 40.

Police say Palte then ran to a construction area near 2800 Concorde Drive and tried to steal a construction van. Workers at the construction site stopped Palte from taking the van and one of the workers told police he heard Palte say, “I’m going to shoot you.” No weapon was found.

Palte was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is now in the Montgomery County jail.
