CHATTANOOGA (WATE) – The Hamilton County Department of Education said they have received calls from community members, alumni and even strangers to ask how they can help the families affected by a deadly bus wreck Monday afternoon in Chattanooga.
A fund has been set up by the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga to help those impacted by the crash. The department of education said the Community Foundation is working with the United Way of Greater Knoxville to ensure those funds are dispersed effectively and efficiently to those in need.
“We at Hamilton County Schools ask you also keep the Woodmore Elementary School community in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time,” said Hamilton County Department of Education in a statement.
Donations can be made online or by mailing a check to the Community Foundation with “Woodmore” in the memo. Checks can be mailed to the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, 1270 Market Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
The Ronald McDonald House of Chattanooga is also collecting food donations for families. Food can be brought to 200 Central Avenue in Chattanooga. They ask that all food donated is single serving items only.
