MILLBURY – A California man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 71 pounds of marijuana, worth approximately $330,000, following a traffic stop in Wood County.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said in a Wednesday release that just after 10:00 a.m. Monday troopers stopped a rented 2016 Ford Expedition, with Washington State license plates for following too closely on I-80. in Wood County. Troopers saw criminal indicators and a Patrol drug-sniffing canine alerted to the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed 10 gift wrapped boxes containing approximately 71 pounds of marijuana, 360 THC pills and a pound of hash wax oil.

The driver, Daniel A. Yates, 31, of Eureka, Calfornia, was taken to the Wood County Jail and charged with possession and trafficking in drugs, both second-degree felonies.
According to OSP, If convicted, he could face up to 16 years in prison and up to a $30,000 fine.
