Ohio authorities charge state worker with patient abuse

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — Ohio authorities have charged a state worker in a center that provides services for the developmentally disabled with patient abuse.

Toledo Municipal Court records show that 33-year-old Jacob Mason of Toledo was arrested Wednesday after a complaint that he earlier this month abused a patient at the Northwest Ohio Developmental Center. An affidavit states that Mason hit and kicked the patient in a secluded hallway and also in the patient’s bedroom. The patient reportedly had abrasions and bruises on his chest, neck and arm.

Court and jail records didn’t list an attorney for Mason.
