Power restored after more than 1,000 customers lost power on Thanksgiving

MIAMISBURG, Ohio (WDTN) – More than 1,800 customers were without power in Montgomery County Thursday morning in the area near the Dayton Mall. Power was restored to those who lost it by 12:30 p.m.

A Dayton Power and Light spokeswoman said crews were responding to the 2200 block of Byers Road around 11 a.m.

Miamisburg police and fire crews are also on the scene. Police tell 2 NEWS a pole snapped and caught fire, leaving the customers without power.

As of 11:20 p.m., that number had dropped to 1,378 customers without power. Officials said DP&L crews are expected to be on scene until midnight.

Authorities blocked traffic on Byers Road and Corporate Place.
