Manhunt follows New Orleans’ Bourbon Street shooting

(WDSU) One man was killed and nine others were wounded when gunfire broke out early Sunday on New Orlean’s Bourbon Street.

Demontris Toliver, 25, died in Sunday’s shooting.

New Orleans police Superintendent Michael Harrison said during a news conference Sunday afternoon that seven other men and two women were shot.

Investigators believe two men are responsible for Sunday’s shooting, which coincided with the annual Bayou Classic football game. Thousands of locals and tourists were in the Central Business District and the French Quarter when shots rang out.

Harrison said detectives believe the gunmen are from outside of New Orleans. Both are still at large, but descriptions of the culprits have not been released. He said the shooting stems from an argument between the two men who fled the area afterward.
