AUSTIN (KXAN) — Former Cleveland Browns quarterback and Texas A&M star Johnny Manziel is being sued in Travis County accused of breaking a bar employee’s nose.

According to the lawsuit, the employee says it happened during a private party on Sept. 6 at the New York, New York bar on 6th Street. The attorney claims Manziel had a problem with what the employee said about him to a customer, so he punched him in the face.

The employee said he was talking to a customer who asked what he thought about Manziel. A member of the Manziel’s private party overheard and told him what the employee said. Manziel then reportedly ran behind the bar and cursed at the employee.

Minutes later Manziel punched the employee in the face breaking his nose. The lawsuit states Manziel then ran out of the back of the bar before police arrived.

The employee is suing for damages over $200,000. He says he suffered physical pain and mental anguish from the incident.

Earlier this year, Manziel’s ex-girlfriend filed charges for domestic violence. Colleen Crowley, told Dallas police that Manziel repeatedly hit her and threatened to kill her during a night out on Jan. 30.

WDTN’s sister station KXAN reached out to Manziel’s attorney, but they have not responded. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
