Third suspect in assault, rape that left victim bound is arrested

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) –  The third suspect in an assault and rape case was taken into custody Thursday afternoon.

James Cargle, of Dayton, was arrested on Enright Avenue in Riverside.

The Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney has approved charges of kidnapping, rape and felonious assault for Cargle, although they have not been presented to a grand jury.

The victim in the case was found Sunday in the 600 block of Kenilworth Avenue in Dayton. The 9-1-1 caller told police that he or she saw the victim pull the trunk release and jump out of a moving vehicle and fall onto the pavement.

When police arrived on scene, they found the victim naked, bound and badly beaten. The victim also had signs of sexual abuse.

Charges have also been approved by the Montgomery County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for Cassidy Lake and Jennifer Rice in the case.
