Suspect in deadly police shooting in Americus, Ga dead

AMERICUS, Ga. (AP) —The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirms the armed suspect wanted in two police shootings is dead. Public Affairs Director Nelly Miles says Minquell Kennedy Lembrick was shot and killed Thursday morning.

Officers at a home on Martin Luther King Boulevard and Allen Avenue say they are in a standoff with a suspect inside. News 3 is working to confirm the suspect is Minquell Kennedy Lembrick, who has been on the run for more than 24 hours after two law enforcement officers were shot Wednesday morning.

A reporter on the scene says there is a massive police response at the intersection of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Allen Avenue. A responding police officer says they believe suspect Minquell Kennedy Lembrick may be barricaded inside a home.
