DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A woman is in custody after she attempted to steal items from a Dollar General Wednesday.
It happened around 5:45 p.m. at 2312 N. Main St. in Dayton.
Police were called to the store in reference to a woman who attempted to steal items, was detained by store security and was fighting them, according to a Dayton police report.
When they arrived, they saw security and management attempting to restrain the woman, but were struggling to do so. Police helped subdue 32-year-old Tarsha Harris at the scene.
The security officer reportedly saw Harris put items in her purse in the chemical aisle and confronted her.
Hewitt’s purse contained dog food, air fresheners, fuel treatment, cleaning materials and power steering fluid. The items together cost $16.95, according to the report.
In the struggle, Hewitt hit security, an employee of the store, bit another employee of the store and another patron.
Hewitt was arrested on charges of robbery and possession of drug paraphernalia — as she had two syringes in her purse.
Hewitt also has an active warrant out fo Beavercreek for possession of criminal tools.
