EATON, Ohio (WDTN) – The snow is good business for plow drivers, but for an Eaton coffee shop, the customers barely drip in when the weather dips.
Inside Crosswalk Coffee, “It really is kind of a family thing.”
You’ll find owner Sheryl Tarler. Along with regulars like Grumpy. “Just about.”
He’s here five days a week. “Unless she’s mad at me or they kick me out.”
But when the temps take a nose dive and outside the snow hits the ground… Her family — shrinks in size.
“Usually when it snows and ices at all, business is very slow. I think it changes peoples routines,” said Sheryl Tarler, owner of Crosswalk Coffee.
Routines for mothers which give her a jolt of business. “They have kids they have to get off to school. And drop off. It takes them longer,”
But a silver lining to all of the white.
“A lot of times when it’s snowing like this a lot of people will get to their destination downtown, and since we’re here they’ll walk,” Tarler said.
Sharon Powell works across the street.
“I just got up, did my normal routine, and walked out and said it’s snowing. I loved it. It was a surprise,” she said.
A seasons greeting.. Tarler says has a remedy. “I would say with a caramel mocha. That’s my favorite.”
Even in the winter months, she says it’s always a good feeling to surround yourself with family. “I can’t wait to go home, have the fire going, sit there and drink my coffee. You know, I love it. I absolutely love it.”
