Girl missing for 5 years found in Ohio

Rachel Owens had been missing since 2011.

BOILING SPRING LAKES, N.C. (WNCN) — Investigators with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office located a Brunswick County woman who had been missing since 2011 in Ohio on Friday.

According to officials, Rachel Natacha Owens, now 20, was located safely in Columbus, Ohio.

She was reported missing on May 5, 2011 after being seen getting off her school bus at South Brunswick High School in Boiling Spring Lakes.

There was no foul play in Rachel’s disappearance and no charges are being pursued at this time. Investigative efforts found that Rachel left and remained away on her own free will.

She went to great lengths to intentionally conceal her whereabouts, even assuming a false identity and date of birth.
