Crews battle fire at Dayton scrap yard

DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Crews are battling a fire at a scrap yard in Dayton.

Dispatch received a call around 3:30 p.m. saying thick, black smoke could be seen billowing from Franklin Iron and Metal located at 1939 East First Street.

According to firefighters, a pile of “stuff” caught fire, but officials say that piles of metal can sometimes spontaneously catch fire.

First street is closed while the fire is knocked down.
